A great first week back!

Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely relaxing break over half term. The children are back and have thrown themselves back into the swing of things this week.

On Tuesday, the children received a visit from a volunteer from the NSPCC, talking to them about ‘Speaking Out’ to a trusted adult whenever they are worried or need help. The children were praised for their sensible and sensitive attitude throughout the session. In the afternoon, The Metonia Project came to talk to us about the start of Lent – flipping pancakes, playing group games and creating our own pancakes about making a change. All children came home with a leaflet about Seekers – a youth group ran by the project, which takes place each Tuesday evening in the Church hall.

On Wednesday, the whole school, along with the parish, visited Church for the Ash Wednesday Service. This marks the start of Lent and prepares us for this period of time. The Student Council have many projects planned to support others during this time and they will be in touch shortly. This ties in nicely with this weeks Prayer and Liturgy, which was lead by one of our class prayer leaders – Katie. The theme was generosity and they read the scripture from Mark 12:41-44 The Widow’s Offering.

Just a reminder that it is World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March – the children have been asked to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book. We also have a book cafe in the morning and a parade around the track at 3pm. For more details please see the weekly newsletter.
