A great first week back

What a great first week back we have had!  We have been super busy exploring with our best friend Mr Wolf another of his books ‘Mr Wolfs Pancakes’. When looking at the book how could we not make our own pancakes. We used a pictorial recipe which the children to make our pancake batter using cups as measurements adding some of our favourite fruits and other toppings. The children were able to look at what was needed and the quantities required. We had fun with Mr Wolf mark making creating marks and patterns making shopping lists for him. Some of us were able to find initial sounds for different ingredients and tools he would need and worked on letter formation for their lists.
On Shrove Tuesday we looked at how other people around the world celebrate the day and how things were in the past. We made our own pancakes and frying pans and t asking turns having pancake races in the sunshine.
We have been over to church to look at what was different noting the clothes have changed to purple for the season of Lent. We learnt all about what Ash Wednesday is and attended mass.
We have loved how much the weather is changing ready for spring and have managed some amazing balancing on the bridges and castle walls the children made. We are still continuing with our yoga and are now working on some rather tricky balancing and poses.
