We started our new topic this week. We have moved on from our minibeast topic, we have released our class butterflies and tadpoles so we can learn all about Africa. We have read African stories and acted them out. We have focused on the story ‘Handa’s Surprise’. We have sequenced the story and tried to write parts of it independently. We also really enjoyed tasting the different fruits from the story. We washed and cut the fruit ourselves and then we discussed what we liked and didn’t like. We didn’t really enjoy the avocado! We learnt more about different shapes and their properties. We went on a shape hunt and used shapes to make many different pictures and models.
As part of our ‘Africa’ topic. We have organised a Live Stream Safari School in conjunction with Knowsley Safari Park on the 24th June at a cost of £2.50 per child. During the session the children will watch a live lesson with a Knowsley Safari zookeeper. The child will have the opportunity to watch the zookeeper interact with the animals in the zoo and teach them all about the different animals that live in Africa. The children will also be able to ask the zookeeper questions during the session. Please log on to ParentPay to pay for the session and give consent for your child to participate.
