Another busy week

This week seems to have whizzed by and has definitely been packed full of learning.

In Geography, we have started our new topic of learning all about South America – starting off of by putting our map reading skills to good use, by finding out what countries making up this vast continent.

In Art, this week we have also been starting to explore South American artists, starting with Joaquin Torres Garcia. We have start to create our own artwork using blocks and symbols that are unique to ourselves. We look forward to sharing those with you shortly.

We have continued on with playscripts this week, in English. We have focused our work on two clips this week – Snack Attack and Soar – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38y_1EWIE9I and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDkpVwrhYfo and we have been using expanded noun phrases to write descriptive passages about settings and characters. I am extremely proud of the writing we have produced this week.

In Maths, we have been getting our heads around Perimeter and Area. We were really testing ourselves towards the end of the week, when we were calculating the area of compound shapes made up of rectangles, as well as those made up of triangles and parallelograms.

This afternoon, we are looking forward to a visit from CAFOD, who will be talking to us about Cop 26 and our role in putting a stop to climate change.
