Beech
Hello and welcome to Beech Class. Our names are Mrs Doolan and Mrs Mallett and we will be your child’s teachers this year. Mrs Doolan will be teaching on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning and Mrs Mallett will be teaching on Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday. Also, in our class, Mrs Armstrong helps support the children with their learning.
We are looking forward to getting to know your children and to help them learn and develop.
Beech Class P.E day is Wednesday and the children should come to school in their PE kits on this day. Please could you make sure that if your child has their ears pierced, they remove earrings on P.E days or are covered with plasters and also long hair should be tied up.
Please ensure all school uniform is clearly labelled.
English homework will be sent home on Wednesdays and Maths homework will be sent home on Fridays. Both pieces should be returned by the following Monday. If your child finds any homework particularly difficult, please annotate the homework.
Children should try to read their reading books most days and your support with this is hugely important. Please discuss the characters, events and any new vocabulary to further develop your child’s comprehension skills and when the book is completed, comment and sign their reading diary. Your child will be given a bookmark with a range of question prompts to support your book discussions. Please also try to read a range of other books if your child has completed any school reading books.
Please send a water bottle in with your child every day to ensure they remain hydrated, alert and ready to focus. If your child uses an inhaler, please ensure it is in school and update us of any changes in your child’s medical needs as soon as possible.
On our school website you will find the curriculum overview for the year and also more detailed half termly overviews. We hope this information will be useful to you at home in helping with your child’s learning and if you have any queries or concerns, please see either of us after school.
