Year 6 Production!
09 July 2019
"On Monday 8th July, the whole school watched Year 6's wonderful production of Cinderella er. I had so many favourite characters; the fairies, Fairy nasty boots and her partner, Cinderella and many more, but my all time favourite was the Fairy Godmother because she was so funny!" Catherine C7. "Yesterday, Class 8 put on their fantastic end of year play! It was really funny and some of the boys were dressed up as girls! The Fairy Godmother was really cool, all of the songs were amazing and the costumes were really well thought out. It was just really great!" Sophie C7
What a busy couple of days!
04 July 2019
Year 6 have had a busy couple of days using their maths, design technology and computing skills! On Tuesday we spent the day using our understanding of computer programming to monitor and control products that we had designed. We used lego and computer design to make our structures move with the codes that we had created. On Wednesday we had a maths challenge day at Corpus Christi Catholic High School where we spent the day taking part in a range of maths activities. These included challenges, treasure hunts, controlling drones and 3D printing and design. We now only have a couple of days left before our production so it is all systems go!

Sunday evening saw our Year 6 children receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. How proud staff were to see how mature our children are, it was a real pleasure to witness them becoming adult members of our faith community. As always, they were all fantastic and should be congratulated. What a special time for our school and parish family.

Year 6 trip to London!
25 June 2019
St. Clare’s Year 6 Trip to London Year six had an amazing time in London! It was fascinating to see and learn about the different tourist attractions. We even got to go behind the scenes in The Houses of Parliament! Firstly, we all gathered together at Preston Train Station at around 7am (which meant that we had to get up earlier than usual). Next, we went on the train at 7:18 and it took around 3 hours to reach Euston Station. Our first attraction was The Houses of Parliament where we met Ben Wallace and found out all about the role of an MP. One of the interesting facts about The Houses of Parliament was that the Queen’s guards still look in the basement to see if Guy Fawkes is there.Once we had our lunch at Whitehall Gardens, we went on the River Cruise and sat upstairs ,although we did get quite wet because it was raining. After that we went straight onto the London Eye as we had fast passes, thank goodness we didn’t have to wait in that never ending queue! The view was phenomenal! We could basically see the whole of London! Our class was separated in two carriages however we could somehow manage to perform our dance for the summer production in sync. Frantically, we rushed back to the station to catch a tube back to Euston and then we got on the train. We really did enjoy this memorable adventure, although we were glad to be back in our cosy beds. By Merin and Nicole (Y6)
Saint Clare's Flower Festival
18 June 2019
Year 6 worked hard last week designing and making a Flower Festival display. Our theme was Saint Francis and the wolf. We started off finding out all about Saint Francis and the work that he did. We then used watercolour to create our own unique images of Saint Francis to put alongside our prayers and reflections. If you look closely at the picture you will see the origami birds that we made as well as the paper flowers and flower arrangements. We are delighted, that along with many other displays, it helped raise over £2000 for our school and parish charity ACN.
