Talk for Change
26 September 2018
This week, in Growth Mindset, we have been discussing how we can change the way we approach a challenge by changing the way we talk to ourselves. By using a positive inner voice, our actions show determination, happiness and empowerment. Ask your child to tell you about the athlete and his inner chimp in the video we watched together!
The United Kingdom
25 September 2018
Class 7 have been learning about the UK in Geography. We have also been exploring persuasive texts in English. This week, we are writing our own persuasive texts, encouraging people to visit one of the capital cities in the UK. These will be displayed in class and we are looking forward to Parents Evening, when you will get the chance to read them!
'Science Spectacular' at Corpus Christi Catholic High School
21 September 2018
Corpus Christi Catholic High school really did roll out the 'red carpet' for our Year 6 children today. They had a fantastic time creating 'sparklers' and experimenting with copper, zinc, iron and magnesium. The children loved every minute of using the Bunsen burner to complete the experiments. Thank you to Mr Robinson and everyone at Corpus Christi for making us feel so welcome.

Over the week some of our Year 6 children presented their speeches to Miss Metcalf and the rest of the school, outlining why they would make successful House Captains, Head Girl and Head Boy. There were some very innovative approaches too, which proved to be entertaining! I'm so glad I didn't have to vote as I think I would have had to abstain! Mrs Foster, Mr Parkinson and I will count and verify the votes ready to give out positions of responsibility at Friday's assembly. All positions are important and our expectation is that children will embrace whatever role they have been chosen for, using Saint Clare as their inspiration.

Anything is possible if we put our minds to it! This week Class 7 have been learning about the brain and how we learn. We have drawn pictures of neurons forming connections and developing pathways, as well as writing detailed explanations demonstrating our understanding. Ask your children to teach you about the brain!
'Meet the Teacher'
14 September 2018
We know how important it is for children to settle back into school life and we also know the importance of good communication between home and school. Therefore, once again, thank-you to those who attended our Induction Evening last night. I know that you will have received important information and an insight into class life, routines and systems. It was also a brilliant opportunity to ask questions about the year ahead. We are all looking forward to an exciting term and hope that you will share each challenge and each success with us as we work together to enable every child to thrive.

Each Wednesday afternoon, Neil will be joining us and teaching us some striking and fielding skills and games. Well done to Teresa and Imaan, who received a certificate for their efforts and great sportsmanship!
