Year 6 trip to London!
25 June 2019
St. Clare’s Year 6 Trip to London Year six had an amazing time in London! It was fascinating to see and learn about the different tourist attractions. We even got to go behind the scenes in The Houses of Parliament! Firstly, we all gathered together at Preston Train Station at around 7am (which meant that we had to get up earlier than usual). Next, we went on the train at 7:18 and it took around 3 hours to reach Euston Station. Our first attraction was The Houses of Parliament where we met Ben Wallace and found out all about the role of an MP. One of the interesting facts about The Houses of Parliament was that the Queen’s guards still look in the basement to see if Guy Fawkes is there.Once we had our lunch at Whitehall Gardens, we went on the River Cruise and sat upstairs ,although we did get quite wet because it was raining. After that we went straight onto the London Eye as we had fast passes, thank goodness we didn’t have to wait in that never ending queue! The view was phenomenal! We could basically see the whole of London! Our class was separated in two carriages however we could somehow manage to perform our dance for the summer production in sync. Frantically, we rushed back to the station to catch a tube back to Euston and then we got on the train. We really did enjoy this memorable adventure, although we were glad to be back in our cosy beds. By Merin and Nicole (Y6)

Today we visited Corpus Christi in order to make our own mythical creatures using clay. There was some fantastic creatures and we are looking forward to returning next week to decorate them, once they have been in the kiln. Thank you to Mrs Lord, who taught us how to mold the clay and the different techniques needed.
Year 5 Corpus Christi Taster Day

Year 5 visited Corpus Christi last week to experience what it was like to be at high school. We were made to feel very welcome by Corpus Christi and thoroughly enjoyed our day. We carried out forensic investigation in Science, composed a piece of music using African and South American musical instruments, reflected on Creation in RE and had a very energetic German lesson.
Saint Clare's Flower Festival
18 June 2019
Year 6 worked hard last week designing and making a Flower Festival display. Our theme was Saint Francis and the wolf. We started off finding out all about Saint Francis and the work that he did. We then used watercolour to create our own unique images of Saint Francis to put alongside our prayers and reflections. If you look closely at the picture you will see the origami birds that we made as well as the paper flowers and flower arrangements. We are delighted, that along with many other displays, it helped raise over £2000 for our school and parish charity ACN.

Year 5 have used this fantastic Michael Morpurgo book as a stimulus today, to write dilemmas for an adventure story. We were blown away by some of the children's stories. Read this extract from Annie's dilemma; The next thing I remembered I was lying down against Oona. I looked around and saw that there were tree with thousands of shades of green leaves. I could hear the sounds of the birds and other animals around me. I could smell the warm rain collect on the leaves. I got up reluctantly as lying on Oona was more comfortable than my bed at home. Oona, who was grey and smooth, opened her eyes ...........
