Computing & Online Safety

Children are given experience of using ICT in the classroom with a variety of equipment and software and for a range of purposes including the communication and handling of information, computer programming and problem solving. They have regular online safety sessions to ensure they are up to date with the ever changing online world.

Parents can find online safety help for at home under the parents tab in online safety.

Each classroom has an interactive whiteboard and is part of the school network which enables each class to access the internet. In addition each class has an ipad and there are additional ipads to support group work.

The children will use and develop their computing skills across the curriculum by organising, refining and presenting text, graphics and sound in different forms. They may work individually, in pairs or in small groups. The overall aim is to offer an interesting and enjoyable experience through which the children become responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information and communication technology and develop the computing skills needed for the world in which we now live.

The internet is a part of children’s lives providing access to a world of information and experiences. At the start of each half term every class will provide opportunities for the children to explore their understanding of the risks associated with the internet, developing their understanding and helping them to make sensible and informed choices online.
