Exploring Shapes and Wales

In Willow Class the children have been exploring 2D and 3D shapes. We began the week with a challenge to discover which group could produce the most triangles, but they all had to be different. The children then showed their knowledge by naming 3D shapes and making repeating patterns. On Friday they used their learning to group shape by their chosen criteria, thinking of the type of shape and number of vertices, faces and edges they had.

The children continued to look at the UK, with our focus for this week being Wales. They completed map work by finding human and physical features in Cardiff. Our cooking this week was Bara Brith, a traditional Welsh recipe. Some of the children were extremely confident when cracking an egg but they all agreed that the mixing was hard work as we adding all of the ingredients. The results of our baking were enjoyed by all.
