At Pentecost the disciples received the gift of the Holy Spirit filling them with confidence, hope, conviction and power. They became the new people ready to proclaim God’s message to the ends of the earth, even to give up their lives for it. That is what Jesus commissioned them to do before he left and it is what he asked of us too. Filled with the Holy Spirit, we are to be his witnesses in our time and place. It is a gift we all have and we much use. It is easy to talk about love but practicing it is far more challenging. When we speak the Spirit-filled language of courage, joy and love we are spreading the Good News.
