Industrial Action

Dear Parents and Carers,

Teachers’ Strike Action

I am mindful that you will be concerned about the recent vote for strike action for teachers and support staff within the National Education Union.

Although 7 dates have been identified across the country, each Local Authority will not have any more than 4 days when teachers will be on strike. The dates that affect us are:

  • Wednesday 1st February
  • Tuesday 28th February
  • Wednesday 15th March
  • Thursday 16th March

We have staff in the NEU and any member of staff undertaking strike action will not be paid for those days.

After completing a risk assessment, I am now in a position to inform you that due to Health and Safety reasons, the school will be closed for the following classes on Wednesday 1st February 2023:

  • Rowan Class
  • Willow Class

I am sorry about the potential disruption to you and your child’s education. I understand that this situation may be frustrating and ask that all members of our school community continue to treat each other with respect. There will be no additional provision available for the children of key workers.

If your child is entitled to free school meals (this includes all Reception, Year 1, Year 2) you will be able to collect a packed lunch for them on the day between 11.30 – 12.30 from the front entrance of the school. You must order this lunch by 3 pm on Friday to enable us to order the provisions we need. Please place your order by calling the school office on 01772 787037. If you do not order by this time, we will not be able to guarantee that we can provide the lunch. Children in school on Wednesday will be provided with lunch as usual.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding in this matter,

Anne Charnley
