Minibeasts and a visit from Blu

We have started our new topic ‘Minibeasts’ this week in Rowan class and have enjoyed a visit to Forest School, where we observed minibeasts using magnifying glasses. We also took woodland swatches to help us identify minibeasts. The children then drew and wrote sentences explaining what they had found. In class, we have read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly this followed on from learning about the lifecycle of a frog before half term. The children used paint to make symmetrical butterflies and chalk to decorate their butterflies on the school playground. We were very excited to have Blu visit us this morning and the children took turns walking him around our school playground. What a busy first week back at school. Have a lovely weekend and keep looking for minibeasts at home with your families. We look forward to hearing all about them in school next week. Mrs Clack and the EYFS Team.
