Our School

What a super start to our new topic we have had this week. In English we are looking at stories with familiar settings, so the children followed a trail of clues to find hidden treasure in our school grounds. In geography we used the four points of the compass for field work in the playground with the children drawing what they could see to the north, south, east and west. The children have started their science topic on plants by comparing different plants, seeds and bulbs. We then planted some seed bombs, bulbs and wild flower seeds in the area outside our classroom. Our art work is closely linked to science with the children looking at botanical art and drawing an ivy leaf and daisy with their dominant and non-dominant hand.

The children listened to the story of Easter Sunday and made models which they used to retell the story to their friends. This theme continued into our prayer and liturgy where the children responded to the words of Jesus and the angel who said, ‘Don’t be afraid.’  They thought of things that scare or worry them and gave these worries to our Lord.
