Playgrounds and Paper Gliders

This week the children have been completing their designs tor playground equipment to use in small world play. We all found it a bit tricky, but the children made some wonderful swings, slides and seesaws, all of which met their design criteria. The children tested them all with the figures from the small world and carefully took them home at the end of the day.

We continued our work on toys in science by looking at toys that fly. The children made a paper helicopter, and ball of paper and a piece of paper. They made predictions about how the object would move when they dropped it from a height. Next they tested their predictions and recorded the results. The children then made paper gliders and took them outside to see how well they flew.
