Red Wednesday, Fire!!!! Author visit, Experiments!

What an interesting week we have had this week.

We have been busy learning all about non-chronological reports in English, fractions in our maths lessons and continuing to research Victorians in our topic unit.

Today we have even completed an experiment – using different materials to identify which is and is not waterproof.

On Wednesday we took part in ACN’s live stream for Red Wednesday.  The children sang beautifully and wrote some lovely prayers afterwards.

On Thursday afternoon, Lancashire Fire and Rescue came to speak to all the Year 2 children in Beech and Hazel classes about fire safety.  They asked the children to remind parents and guardians to check smoke alarms and to make a fire plan.  We also learned about ‘stop, drop and roll’.  Please talk to your children about the important fire safety visit.

Today we had a special visit from an author.  We really enjoyed hearing her story and why she wrote her book.  Thank you so much for visiting us.

Over the next few weeks we are preparing for our Nativity.  Please ensure the children learn their lines and bring them into school each day.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mr Cummings and Mrs Mills
