Wellbeing in Year 6

Good mental health and wellbeing is essential for all children. It helps the children to learn effectively, cope with day-to-day challenges, and develop into resilient young adults. There are a number of things that we do to support the mental health and wellbeing of children in school as well as creating a safe and supportive environment where the children feel comfortable discussing their mental health and how to support wellbeing. I would encourage you to come and speak to me if you feel your child needs extra support or help – my door is always open.

Positive thinking and resilience and my mantra of ‘mistakes are proof that you are trying’ all fit together to help us have the ability to ask for help as well as accept support from others. Over the past week and as we lead up to half term we will be focusing on a range of additional activities and strategies that the children can use to support their wellbeing now and in the future.

I was so proud of all the children yesterday at our open day. They made great tour guides speaking passionately about their school, sharing their experiences and answering questions from new families.

Thank you all so much for joining us on Monday to taste our healthy snack. All children has chance to make and taste…there were even a couple who changed their mind about liking dried fruit in their flapjack!

Next week we have our community bingo on Wednesday morning at 10:00am until 11:15am which the children in Year 6 are organising. It would be great to welcome any family members that fancy a game of bingo!

Just a reminder that the deadline to apply to high school is 31st October 2023 via the Lancashire County Council website.  Some schools also require you to complete an additional Faith form, copies of which you can get from the school you are applying to.  If anybody has any questions about the process, please do get in touch and I will help in any way that I can.

Below are a couple of reminders for next week. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask. Have a lovely weekend with your families.
