What a glorious first week back e have had. We have had so much fun outside and seen our outdoor area really take shape.
Today is Earth Day which is celebrated worldwide giving us a chance to talk about how to take care of our earth and be more aware of our actions. The theme for Earth Day this year is ‘Invest in our planet’. We have been talking about these things throughout the year focusing on 3 areas, finding and picking up litter to protect wildlife, planting trees and flowers and recycling. Although you can’t see some of our actions you can see the recycling that has most definitely taken place in the area by the front gate. Thanks must go to those who have donated resources for us to recycle into making the area great for the children and everyone who has collected their plastic bottles for our greenhouse it is finally complete with the children just needing to finish threading the bottle top curtain. The worm composter is working well with the worms being of great interest to all the children with lots of talk about size and quantity. We have even managed to start planting the first of our veg seeds with more planting still to come and I’m sure this will also mean lots more eating of our produce!
