Year 6 are taking over the blog!

Happy New Year!

We hope that you have all had a good rest over the Christmas break and managed to have time with your families. This half term we will be handing the Year 6 blog over to different children in class. This week our blog is written by Alex, Faith, Basil and Ella – so over to them!

In year 6 we have been learning about Banksy who is an anonymous street artist who paints graffiti with a secret meaning to it.  We looked at a piece of his work in RE which was a picture of Jesus holding presents. In this picture Jesus was melting away which helped us to remember the true meaning of Christmas and that we shouldn’t let Jesus melt away as he should be solid in our lives.

We went over to Church for the Epiphany. We had the opportunity to look at the crib, answer questions and say our own prayers. Whilst we were at church we also found out more about the kings, what they were called and what gifts they brought baby Jesus.

In HRSE we have been painting and thinking about how we are all unique and different. We then created our own artwork and everyone in class had to guess who each one belonged to by listening to the different skills, talents and qualities!

In French we have been learning the vocabulary for hobbies like football, basketball, gymnastics and running.

On Thursday we learnt the names of the different historical periods and put them on a timeline.  We then looked closer into the Anglo Saxons and Vikings.

We have had a really busy week this week and learnt so much already!

Have a good weekend!
